The holidays are quickly approaching and before we know it 2010 will be here and we'll be ringing in the new year with family and friends. Around this time every year my mind wanders as I start thinking about party dresses and mainly "what look am I going for this year?" Last year I wore a charcoal sequin dress with a faux fur cropped jacket and black booties and I'm not a fan of repeating outfits so now I'm trying to figure out what to do about this new years eve.
Sequins are still so big on the trend scene but I'm thinking going a different direction. I'm actually loving the Nanette Lepore "Love Triangle" Dress. It's very romantic and flowy with black lace over a pale pink silk. It's a girly girl party dress that you'll be able to wear over and over again and fall in love with it every time you see it hanging in your closet.

If you're thinking sequins (and if you are, i don't blame you!) Check out the Velvet "Vera" Dress. With 3/4 length sleeves and a plunging v-neck line, this dress is different from every sequin dress that I've seen and in my opinion the best part is that the dress itself dresses up your outfit so you only need small accessories and you can just let the dress do all the work.

I am so excited to introduce our Sanity customers to BB Dakota. We are excited to have this line finally in the store and on Sanitystyle.com. BB Dakota became famous for the "Bella" jacket that was in Twilight. This one appearance alone made BB Dakota a sought after line. Aside from being in Twilight, BB Dakota has been featured in magazines and has been worn by many celebrities.

L.A.M.B. just had their shining moment on the cat walk showcasing their Spring 2010 Collection and it was truly an amazing show filled with zippers, off the shoulder styles, diaper bottom dresses, tunics, harem pants. Feminine styles complimented the tough rocker edge.
While Kevin and I were in Vegas for Magic/Project and a million other trade shows we had an opportunity to check out L.A.M.B.'s spring 2010 Collection in person and the pictures of the fashion show do the clothes no justice. In person they are even more amazing.
The line has changed a little bit (because of corporate issues) but the Gwen flair is not gone. I'd love to hear what you L.A.M.B. fans have to say about the new season and if you haven't had a chance to check out the fashion show, see the pictures at Style.com.

Each time Kevin and I go to the trade shows in Vegas (Magic, Project, ENK & Capsul) we always have the pleasure of hanging out with the guys from Dom Rebel, Don (far right) and Justin (far left). All i have to say is the Spring 2010 collection is sick. You'll just have to see it for yourself when it comes out ;)

Plaid is back...big time for fall 09 and we are loving it at Sanity!! For women, we just received the new Morphine Generation line and every piece looks great! My absolute favorite (and most versatile) piece from the line is the Morphine Generation Neo Grungre Shirt Dress
Who would have thought that a plaid AND flannel dress could be cute? If anyone could do it, it would be Morphine Generation. This dress is fitted with a front button closure and a cinching waist tie. It's going to look great alone with a pair of fringe boots. Another way to wear this dress would be with a pair of skinny jeans....the possibilities are endless!

The new William Rast Fall Collection is finally here!
We have 3 new washes for men and 2 new washes for women and they look sooooo good!
Just a little preview for our followers of the new washes are below. The first picture is the men's Billy (Bootcut) in Beale Street. This wash was used on a woman's jean for spring and was a hit! William Rast introduced Beale Street for Men because both men and women loved this wash so much!
Right below the Billy is the Ben (straight leg) in Colt, a dark grey wash that is great for dressing up or down. A nice slim leg gives you that polished look you guys going for.

Fall is undoubtedly my favorite season. Sweaters, jeans, boots, cashmere dresses and leg wear. Those are just a few of my favorite items of clothing that I look forward to wearing in the fall.
This past week we have received so many new arrivals at Sanity and Sanitystyle.com and even though I feel like we haven't had much of a summer, I'm getting so excited for fall!
Our newest arrival is Cheap Monday, a Swedish clothing label for men and women. It was founded in 2000 by Örjan Andersson, originally as a second-hand clothing store, in a suburb of Stockholm. The name of the brand originates from the fact that the original store was only open on Sunday. The brand is known for their idiosyncratic designs, and has expanded from their original focus on jeans to include sneakers, flannel, and shirts and fashion forward pieces. Leave it to Gwen Stefani with her amazing voice, amazing abs and her harajuku cool sense of style to design such a great line of clothing, shoes and bags like L.A.M.B. The first of the fall 2009 collection just arrived and is just perfect for early fall. With reds and mauves being the IT colors for this fall 2009, L.A.M.B has mixed reds into the collection beautifully. I personally have a few favorites from the line, which includes the "Mazed Asymmetric" dress. With a charcoal background, the color red is woven through the dress hence the name "mazed". Asymmetric ruffles on the front and faux pockets add just the right amount of flair to this dress and the flutter cap sleeves add a hint of femininity. Just perfect!
I can just see this dress with a pair of black suede boots and a great fall bag.

I recently learned about the 3/50 Project, an idea that started after a blog post. The 3/50 Project is about supporting your local merchants. This cause became very important to Kevin and I after we opened Sanity. As a local merchant of Chagrin Falls, we know that every little bit of support for local merchants helps. It not only helps in a business sense but in a community sense. If there were no merchants in Chagrin Falls because every one chose to shop at big name chains like Nordstrom, Dillards and especially the discount stores like TJ Maxx, Nordstrom Rack and other comparable stores, Chagrin Falls would have nothing left to draw people to the area (except for the Popcorn Shop of coarse....joking, joking).
The idea of all the merchants closing because people do not support small merchants as much as they should really saddens me. The true draw of a town like Chagrin Falls has always been the "cute shops". There are thousands of town like Chagrin Falls that people look forward going to because they know they'll find something unique and interesting to bring home with them.
The idea of supporting local merchants is not a difficult one and is very do-able. The 3/50 Project says that if half the employed people in America spent $50 a month in locally owned independant businesses, it would generate more than $42.6 billion in revenue. Not to mention that for every $100 dollars spent at a locally owned store, $68 returns directly to your community through taxes, payroll and other expendtures.
I understand how easy it is to go online and click a button and get what you want in a few days, but if you shop online, it does absolutely nothing to help your community.
All that i'm asking you, as an owner of a locally owned business is to please consider stopping at the boutiques first before you rush off to Nordstrom to buy your jeans or fall waredrobe.
Plus, shopping at boutiques makes your clothing more unique and I promise, you won't see 20 different people wearing the exact same shirt that you just bought from Express, only in 5 different colors :)

When i was a little girl, one of my all time favorite children books was "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak. This book that was loved by millions of children is now bringing back a feeling of joy to the adults who grew up with it. This beloved book has been turned into a movie that is scheduled to be released in theaters on October 16, 2009!
Junk Food Clothing has been designing great tees for men and women for the past year that follow the theme of "Where the Wild Things Are" and the reaction in the store has been unbelievable. Every one who grew up with the book can't help but pick up the shirts and with a big smile tell the people around them how much they loved the book when they were young.

With over 700 different denim styles to offer, the Diesel mecca store aka "Planet" on 5th Ave in NYC has everything a Diesel lover could ask for. Walking through the glass sliding doors, you enter a dark, rock n roll store filled with three levels of pure Diesel heaven. Filled with items to satisfy any man's and woman's Diesel craving, the store's unique mix of music, decor and fashion was definitely a breath of fresh air.

I recently had a chance to meet the creators of the jewelry line, Dirty Pretty Things, a collection of feminine and edgy jewelry ranging from necklaces, bangles and earrings. The line is filled with really rich and unique designs that grab the attention of anyone with a eye for fashion or anyone who enjoys jewelry (i think there are a lot of us out there!). The two images below are my favorite pieces from the collection. I'm a really "girl girl" so of coarse i picked the earrings with a pink heart. This pair of earrings are named "Cheeky Pink Love Silver Earrings" and retail for $53. The picture really does the earrings no justice, they look unbelievable in person. They are very feminine and in my opinion would look great with a tank and a pair of jeans or dressed up!

My favorite bracelet is the "Bubble Gum Bling Bracelet" in black. This bracelet also comes in white and is stunning in both colors. The retail for the piece is $48 and is so versatile.
