Chinato Restaurant in Cleveland

Posted by Sanity |

I am a big fan of Chef Zack Bruell and his restaurants. The creativeness that goes into the food as well as the ingredients are truly a treat.  Lastnight, my husband Kevin, is parents and brother went to Chinato on E. 4th, Zack Bruell's newest masterpiece. Chinato takes traditional Italian food and puts a contemporary twist on it. If you're thinking "Spaghetti and Meatballs" when I say Italian, you'll be in for a very pleasant surprise. The food was very traditional Italian, the way I described it to my father was, "not American Italian, but Italy Italian". Not sure if he understood me but I thought it descibed it better than just saying Italian.
The decor is very clean and cozy modern. The kitchen is open and you can watch your food being prepared, which personally I love. The best part about the evening was seeing Chef Zack Bruell himself preparing our food before it arrived to our table.
We started with the Crudi and Antipasti. The Crudi was the raw part of the menu. Kevin and I tried the "Yellowtail with pesto and tomatoes". It was very fresh and practically melted in your mouth. The pesto was an essential part of the Yellowtail and complimented the flavor of the Yellowtail very nicely. The pesto was also a great bread dip.
For the Antipasti the waiter (who was very knowledgeable about the food and not to mention the service throughout the night was fantastic) suggested some of the best Antipasti dishes on the menu. We ordered 4 different Antipasti.
Involtini of Eggplant stuffed with ricotta and shrimp
Fried Baby Artichokes “Roman ghetto style”
Buratta with grilled toast and cold tomato basil sauce
And the last one is not on the online menu and I can't recall the name but it was a Fried Risotto...amazing.
All of the Antipasti were great, but I think next time I'll skip the Fried Baby Artichokes.
Dinner Time!
When I was looking at the menu online, I noticed the Walleye with Cod Mashed. But I couldn't figure out if the "cod mashed" was actually mashed cod or mashed potatoes with cod pieces in it. It turned out to be mashed potatoes with pieces of cod in it and was very good. It was breaded and deep friend like a patty. The walleye was very flaky and the flavor was perfect.
The Porchetta, a suggestion from the waiter, is what Kevin got and he practically licked his plate clean.
Kevin's mom got the Beef Braised in Amarone with creamy polenta and his dad ordered the Egg Battered Chicken Breast in brown butter and lemon. Kevin's brother ordered the Fettucinne Carbonara, which was delicious. I loved when the waiter explained the way the Carbonara is made. Instead of using a cream base, the in-house-made pasta is mixed with pasta water and a fresh egg. So simple yet so good!
We also got the Gnocci as a side for the table and those were very good.
By now you would think we'd be full, but the portions aren't huge so you get to taste a little bit of everything.
I can't resist dessert so we ordered 3 desserts.
Lemon Polenta Cake
Apple Torta
Pineapple with Vanilla Gelato
Out of the 3, my number 1 was The Apple Torta.

Honestly, I can't wait to go back!

Golden Globes 2010

Posted by Sanity |

The color of the night was definitely in the purple family and a few stars pulled of the color beautifully. My number one pick for purple dresses was Fergie in her beautiful, classic lilac Ellie Saab gown. The color was perfect against her skin tone and hair color. Her simple hair and clean makeup make the Ellie Saab gown the center of attention.

A couple other starlets who worked the purple were Sandra Bullock in Bottega Veneta, Jane Krakowski in J. Mendel and Rose Byrne in Lanvin.

Flirty Florals

Posted by Sanity |

When you think of spring what do you think of? Pretty blooming flowers, right? BB Dakota's Nettie Dress now available at Sanity in Chagrin Falls and Sanitystyle.com is a breath of fresh (wish it was spring already) air. The beautiful rose florals and bright fun colors make me wish it wasn't still snowy outside. I can imagine wearing this dress with a neutral pump, grabbing a sweet little clutch and going out for a lunch with the girls. The shape of this dress is so flattering on so many body types and the thick cotton bodice makes this dress very comfortable and very wearable.

Ugg & Jimmy Choo?

Posted by Sanity |

I was reading Highsnobette and one of today's posts was about a collaboration between Ugg and Jimmy Choo. Since Louboutin is outselling Jimmy Choo and Ugg's sell like crazy ever fall and winter season, Jimmy Choo has decided to collaborate with Ugg to hopefully boost their sales. According to WWD (Women's Wear Daily), “Prices for the line will range from $595 through to $795, and the collection will be carried at select Jimmy Choo and Ugg Australia stores and the two labels’ online stores, as well as at certain department and specialty stores that carry Jimmy Choo.”
This should be an interesting collaboration to follow...I'm trying to imagine the styles that they will come out with...I guess we'll have to wait and see!

Spring Trends vs Snow

Posted by Sanity |

I'm looking out the window and it's snowing outside. The morning weather forecaster said that we're supposed to be getting between 3 to 6 inches of snow and I'm thinking about wedge sandals, pastels, ruffles and khaki...aka Spring 2010 trends. I've been a follower of whowhatwear.com for a while now and their post about Spring 2010 trends really inspired me to get into the spring trend kick, but I think I need to come back to reality because I'm stuck in the snow for the next few months and my pastels and wedge sandals might look a little silly right now. None the less the more spring deliveries we get the less I think about the snow and the cold so I think I'll stay in my fantasy world for a little longer atleast until the sunshine comes out and melts all the snow away.

It's a wrap!

Posted by Sanity |

I know I'm getting a little ahead of myself when I talk about how excited I am for spring since it's 20 degrees outside and snowing up a storm, but.... I'm SO excited for spring!
This spring we are introducing some really great clothing lines as well as shoe lines to Sanity and Sanitystyle.com and one of the shoe lines is TOMS. I last year Kevin and I watched a special about TOMS and their amazing movement really grabbed a hold of our hearts..."One for One. TOMS Shoes was founded on a simple premise: With every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need. One for One. Using the purchasing power of individuals to benefit the greater good is what we're all about". After watching this special, Kevin and I decided that we wanted to be a part of this movement and our way of doing so was to offer our customers TOMS and a chance to give back to children in need of something as simple as shoes.
Coming this spring we have some really great TOMS styles coming and one of my favorite styles since it was introduced is the wrap boot. This ultra stylist, ultra comfortable wrap boot can be worn in a number of ways and is vegan friendly! Featuring a durable outsole and 100% cotton canvas upper, these boots can be worn wrapped over your favorite skinny jeans, leggings or with a flowy dress.
Watch for these wrap boots in store and online coming this spring!

Watch out 2010... here we come!

Posted by Sanity |

It's the start of a new year and with the new year comes resolutions, changes and goals. 2009 was a great year for Sanity and we're hoping that 2010 is even better! Kevin and I are always thinking of ways to improve the store and the website (so if you see the website changing pretty often...don't mind us, we're always changing things around to keep it fresh and new and keep our customers wanting more)!
In 2009 we introduced a section to the store and the website, "The Cellar". The cellar is a way for us to offer really great, fashionable clothing at an amazing price while still carrying contemporary lines and offering a great mix of both. Our men's and women's denim selection is growing as well as our shoe selection for women. We have some really great shoes coming for women for spring and summer that I know you're going to LOVE!
Also this spring we are introducing AG Adriano Goldschmied denim for men and a couple really great women's denim lines that we're keeping a secret for now :)
We want to thank EVERYONE that made 2009 a wonderful year and Kevin and I are so excited for the beginning of a new year with new opportunities and new trends!!
